Alright guys, so now we're inside of the setting up your attribution via the pixel, aka page view tracking. Now real quick guys, I want to mention, setting up our account is super simple. That's why we have this tabbed approach. The attribution table is where you're going to see your ad attribution. Tracking Pixels is where we set up number one. Conversion setup, number two, over here, and then you can set up your AI Ad Optimization over here. So it's really as simple as one, two, three. Again, in this video we're going to be setting up the tracking pixel so we can start tracking attribution via the pixel, which again, tracks the page views.
So, coming in, we're going to create our first pixel. And here we can just call it whatever, does not matter. You can use one pixel for multiple websites, so no stress. Just create a pixel, name it something. And then we are going to see this. So now we have the pixel. So this is the pixel that we need to actually take. So I'm going to hit copy.
And then I am going to use GoHighLevel because again, it is uh very easy and something that we use regularly. So if you set up funnels, but the concept is going to be the same. You are going to grab your pixel and add it in the head section of your website. So if we come on in here and click on settings, you'll then see the head tracking code. I'm going to go ahead, I'm going to delete this and add the new one in there, and that is going to be it. All you're going to do is add this to your head tracking code, and it's important that this should be website-wide, right? We're not adding this into a specific page. So if you guys don't know how to do this, ChatGPT it, YouTube it, honestly whatever platform you're using for websites is really easy. You just have to find the head tracking code that applies to the entire website, and then come in and hit save.
So now that we have done that, we can test to make sure that this works. So we're going to open this page. We are then going to grab this down and come back over into our app. And then we are going to hit test pixel. Then we are going to wait and see if we can find the pixel on there. And any moment now, you'll see test successful. You can also view the page views inside of here. So you literally see um the different page views that we have and that we are firing off and we can catch. This was the one that um our system sent to go track, check if it's there. But this was the one that I did literally 30 seconds, 10 seconds beforehand. And also you can see things like referrer, right? So we came from app.gohighlevel.com first because we were literally on app.gohighlevel.com and then we clicked on this and then it opened up this page here.
So that is very, very important to mention is also you can track the referrers, see where people are coming from. You can click on view data and start seeing some of their data, like IP address, etc. Again, we're gonna have an entire other video on how to uh dive into your data. This is just for setup, so don't let this trip you guys out. But if we continue and move back here to pixel management, you will see that this is now set up properly and you officially have tracking on all of your page views.
Now I want to show you guys something as well. If I go to the attribution table, you'll now see that we are showing this as direct/organic and the page views are showing in here. So this is literally it. We can come in, we can view the data. This one was me, literally my computer, my screen resolution, the IP address, like all this very, very intimate data is starting to populate and show up in here. Um, and then also to kind of piggyback on what I had mentioned in the previous video, understanding attribution, I'm actually going to just pull this down so you can see what I'm doing to the URL here. But guys, just so you understand how this works and how we can track where people are coming from, let's go utm_source=test. I did another funny test for someone else. But utm_source=test. So now, guys, you'll see if we come back to our app here and uh let's just refresh the page real quick, you'll now see a new source called "test" just appeared. You can come in, you can view the data, and again, you'll see the website that we went on, right? This was the website, utm_source=test. So you literally saw me do this live. Our system picks up this full URL. We see where this person came from, and then we show it to you under the source. Then if it's a campaign, we'll show you the campaign, right? So this one here, I click on campaign, it's unattributed because there was no campaign, right? We only had the source in here, so that's why it's showing unattributed because there's literally no campaign to show you it. Then if we go to medium, again we never clicked on a medium so we'd filter that and see nothing, but um yes, that is kind of how this works here is you add the URL parameters like I literally just showed you inside of here, and we can now start to show it and track this for you.
So now that we've gone through the entire concept of page view tracking and showing you how in real-time adding URL parameters works, we are next going to go through, how do we actually track the contact, the email, the phone number for people that click on our website? Right? Because people can click on our website, but how do we track this person's identity, which is their name, their email, their phone number. So again, click on the next video and I'll walk you guys through how to set that up.
Introduction
This guide will walk you through setting up ad attribution using the recommended page view tracking method. By placing a tracking pixel on your website, you can capture detailed information about your visitors' journeys, including the pages they visit and the specific ads that brought them there. This is the most effective way to get a complete picture of your customer's path from ad to conversion.
Step 1: Create Your Tracking Pixel
The first step is to generate the tracking pixel script that you will add to your website.
Navigate to the Ad Tracking section of your business.
Click on the Tracking Pixels tab.
Click the + Create Your First Pixel button.
Give your pixel a recognizable name (e.g., "Ad Tracking Guide Pixel"). You can use a single pixel across multiple websites if needed.
Click Create Pixel.
Step 2: Install the Pixel on Your Website
Once created, you need to install the pixel script into the head section of your website. This ensures it loads on every page. The process is similar for most website builders (e.g., GoHighLevel, WordPress, ClickFunnels).
Copy the entire pixel script provided.
Navigate to your website builder's settings. In this example, we use GoHighLevel's funnel settings.
Locate the section for adding code to the Head Tracking Code or <head> section.
Paste the pixel script into this field.
Save your changes. The pixel should now be active across your entire site or funnel.
Step 3: Test the Pixel and Review the Data
After installation, it's important to test that the pixel is working correctly.
Go back to the Tracking Pixels tab in AgentKong.
Copy the URL of the website where you installed the pixel.
Paste the URL into the Test Pixel field and click Test Pixel.
You should see a "Test successful!" confirmation.
Navigate to the Page Views sub-tab. You will now see live data from your test, including the visitor's IP address, location, device, and referrer (the site they came from).
Step 4: Add UTM Parameters to Track Ad Sources
To see which specific ads, campaigns, and sources are driving traffic, you must add UTM parameters to your destination URLs in your ad platforms.
When a user clicks an ad with a URL like yourwebsite.com/?utm_source=test, the pixel captures this information.
In the Attribution Table, this visit will no longer be listed as "Direct/Organic." Instead, it will be attributed to the source you defined (in this case, "test").
You can then filter your reports by Source, Campaign, Medium, and Ad to see exactly which marketing efforts are generating page views and, ultimately, conversions.
